One of the main challenges we face in our day-to-day is confronting our work schedule and realizing that we're battling against time because the client HAS NOT DELIVERED THE TEXTS for their website. Yes, the client must provide the texts, and yes, they are crucial. What's even more frustrating is that many times they don't know how to create them and they don't ask us. We're here to guide every client, remember that.
Without texts, it's impossible to create a successful website design without setbacks.
That's why we've created this short guide to help you progress with this important task when hiring the creation of a website.
1. Define the style of your texts
If you already have a brand manual, now is the time to use it. If you don't have one, you need to analyze and decide how your language will be: friendly, simple, educational, like a friend or like the president of the country. Decide on your tone and stick to it.
2. Visit reference pages
Do some research and visit pages that you like. Analyze how many paragraphs they use, how long the titles are, etc. They can be pages of your competitors, allies, or brands that have nothing to do with your business but inspire you in some way.
3. Define the menu options
Here begins the structure of your text. Think about the options that any website menu has, the most famous ones are: about us, contact, home, services. Which ones would you like to have on your website? And more importantly, which ones would be useful and appealing to your customers?
4. Define the content of the previous options
Once the menu options are defined, you need to go a little further. Look at this example
Texts for SERVICES:
- Catchy Title
- Mission-summarizing phrase
- Prices
- Invitation to contact us
Basically, you should answer what you want your client to discover about your business when visiting your website.
5. Write with control
Now, write everything you want to show, something that adds value and demonstrates to your client why you are their best option. Don't abuse the freedom of text; people read little, especially in the digital world. The big challenge is to write concisely and attractively.
Make the necessary adjustments, add some design to the texts so you can get an idea of how it can look better. Put the titles in large size, highlight phrases, insert tables, etc.
