Well, that's precisely what the cloud is – the ability to access space on a network of servers (connected to the internet and whose locations are unknown) that allow us to have the necessary space to plant our seeds (information, software, databases, and much more) and harvest fruits in the same place we've always used.
So...what's a server?
If we go back to our previous analogy, the server would be what physically represents for the farmer his land, that is, the space where he can carry out his tasks. In the case of technology, a server is a computer (or several computers connected together) with a certain capacity that allows performing a variety of tasks.
A bit more about cloud computing
One of the great advantages of cloud computing is that it eliminates the need to have large servers in our companies to carry out tasks that require a lot of processing power. This means that from our computer, we can plant seeds over kilometers and kilometers of land without the need to own all that land.
In addition to the previously mentioned benefit, the client only needs to contract the amount of space or processing power they are going to use. For example, if the farmer only needs one hectare, he can contract exactly that space. This is a great advantage for small and large companies that only pay for what they are actually using.
A common occurrence in technology some years ago was to see companies buying servers that were either too large or too small, ending up with either too much or too little space for their tasks. This no longer happens with cloud computing, and that, in addition to saving money, greatly improves processes.
